fun in March!

In March we celebrated Dr. Seuss and his love of reading, as well as St. Patrick's Day with leprechauns and shamrocks!  Lots of books, lots of green and lots of fun!  I have added links to where each project was found via Pinterest!

I made a template for the tooth fairy from: lovethosekinders-kinderkay.blogspot.com
The cat in the hat project is from: kiboomukidssongs.com

The bearded leprechauns are from: google.ca
The leprechauns with top hats are from: learningenglish-esl.blogspot.com , and come with a template!
The pots of gold with the rainbows are from somewhere on Pinterest, afraid I don't have link.

We have been having a great time with March holidays and activities, and starting on frogs and turtles!  Soon it will be time for flowers!

Dental Health Week in Kindergarten

This week we are studying Dental Health, and I found this fun project we did in class today.  There was not a template so I just created a blackline master of a pair of lips, and copied it onto red construction paper on the copier.  We did not use the stick, but it looks like fun that way!  To add a math angle to it, after kids added the marshmallows for teeth, I had them count how many teeth there were, and write the number on their lips project.  They turned out very cute, and they did a great job counting.  I am trying to cover multiple subjects when doing art these days, with so much to cover in the new Common Core State Standards.

I found this on Pinterest, and it is from Mrs. Winter's website at: http://prekwithmrswinter.blogspot.com/2013/02/dental-health-and-hygine.html.  Thanks for sharing!

Welcome to my new blog!

Hello, and welcome!  I am so excited to start a blog in this wonderfully technological world today!  I am a HUGE Pinterest fan and user, as well as a kindergarten teacher, mother of two, wife, and lover of anything artistic, colorful, and especially upcycled!  With the new Common Core State Standards adopted in Oregon where I teach, I have started creating art projects that include standards, especially math and writing.  I don't want to lose the fun in kindergarten, so this way we can do both!  Art is the favorite time of day for my students.  I will be adding things here that are both fun and education, sometimes they will include both!  Come back again soon as I add more creations!
